In a very sorry game, with a very sorry referee, Benfica ends up with the luck of the draw and is headed to the next round of the Carlsberg Cup.
Camacho said it all after the game when he said that the only thing big about Benfica were its fans. Benfica ended up tieing the game two minutes into extra time on a penalty kick by Freddy Adu.
That would have been all good, if it wasn´t for the fact that the penalty didn´t exist, so much so that the referee has already publicly apologized. The fact that Benfica played like shit also didn´t help things at all. It was just too bad to be true.
As I had mentioned yesterday, Benfica played with both Luisão and Zoro on defense. And Freddy Adu saw 45 minutes of action. He didn´t play that bad, but then he didn´t play that good, no one did! He was however very cool under fire when he scored the game tieing penalty kick. And to prove it wasn´t a fluke, we was just as calm when we scored another penalty quick. This time when both teams were in the penalty quick fase to untie the game.
For the record, Benfica won, but other than that things are just getting worse…
