Cristian Rodríguez, is also an Uruguayan international like Maxi Pereira and comes at no cost to SL Benfica. He will be on loan for one year, with the option of another. Last season he played with PSG from France. He is expected to play on the left side, both on “D” and at midfield.
The Brazilian Edcarlos is coming to help reinforce the defense, where he will compete with the “untouchable” Luisão, David Luiz, and Zoro. Edcarlos, 22, is an international for Brazil, and has already won some titles. He was a starter for São Paulo, where he won in 2005 the World Cup of Clubs again Liverpool in Japan. He has however recently seen less playing time for São Paulo. Edcarlos is very excited about coming to Benfica and said that it was a “dream come true”.
With the addition of these two players Benfica has clearly the most expensive team ever. Benfica actually spent more on players this year than all the other teams in the league combined. We are all waiting to see the results of these investments, a good start would be a win against Copenhagen on Wednesday.

I would have to agree with you. We already have too many new faces this season

We should have a good defense as soon as the other players come back from their injuries
