Another Carlsberg Cup game and another late goal by Freddy Adu.  Benfica tied their Carlsberg Cup game against Setubal with a goal three minutes into extra time.  It is the second time Benfica ties in the last minutes of a Cup game and also Freddy Adu´s second goal under such circumstances.  This time Adu didn´t need a penalty shot and scored a very nice goal.

Unlike the game against Amadora, that went into OT and then into penalty kicks, this time there will be a second game in Setubal.  Because of the way the Carlsberg Cup is setup, there would game been a second game, regardless of the outcome of this one.

Benfica left most of the regulars at home for this game since we have a Champions League game against Celtic next Wednesday.  Di Maria was one of the players that started, as well as Luisão, Katsouranis, Bynia and Quim.  Most of the other starters today were players that haven´t seen too many minutes all season.  And some of them showed why they are not regulars in the starting line-up.  Bergessio was one of those that  I expected more from today.

Overall it was a weak game, with Benfica not showing anyone much of anything.  Although this is not one of those very important games, a win would have been a win.  The tie ends up being the most fair outcome, and gives Benfica some chances of continuing to the next round of the Carlsberg Cup.

Pedro Mantorras saw a few minutes in this game after an absence of almost two months.  Originally it wasn´t expected that he return before December.  He came in to the game at the 70 minute mark at the same time Freddy Adu came into the game.
