SL Benfica has announced that they will not participate in the newly created Carlsberg cup in Portugal (Liga Cup). I would have to think this is a good idea, since it is not yet given that it will be a worth while venture financial, and without Benfica´s participation that probability rises significantly. Also, and this is the main reason, Benfica is not ready to make more games next season. We saw it this year already. Benfica will also have to play the third round of the Champions League next season. And more games means more players on the squad, and since Benfica doesn´t not have that much money to spend I would rather have quality players instead of quantity.

Meanwhile, Zoro was in Lisbon to sign for Benfica, making him the second new player to sign for next season. I was hoping Miccoli would stay in Benfica next year. He is a very talented player and a fan favorite, and now he has also shown that he is not injury prone (he never had this issue before coming to Benfica). But it seems his situation will not be resolved any time too soon since Juventus just lost their coach and they won´t make these kinds of decisions until they sign a new coach. We will just have to wait, I for one have my fingers crossed.
