I am posting a little earlier than usual today, and just in case you didn´t know, the reason being that SL Benfica plays today.  I almost forgot about this game (well, not really, I just hadn´t posted about it), Benfica has a 20:30 (Portugal time) game today against Estrela Amadora.

This is an away game for the newly created League Cup, also know as Carlsberg Cup.  There is a Portugal Cup, but this is another story.  The Carlsberg Cup is only played by the teams in the two top leagues, and this being the first round with division one teams.

Camacho will be leaving a few of the regular players at home for this game, but probably not as many as he would like, since Carlsberg Cup rules require that a team play with at least five players that played in the last two matches.

Some of the players that will sit this one out are Nuno Gomes and Cardozo.  Luisão and Zoro, both coming from injuries should see playing time, with Luisão most likely starting the game.  Benfica has an important home game against Sporting Saturday and Camacho wants to give Luisão some playing time before he starts in that game.

Butt, who has been very unhappy as a bench warmer, will be starting this game instead of Quim.  Among other players that should see some rest are  Léo, Katsouranis, Luís Filipe and Rui Costa.

This game should give a few players that haven´t been used regularly some playing time, and among them is Andres Diaz, the American Freddy Adu, and the Chinese Yu Dabao.  I am hoping Adu could at least play have the game.
